Reading books that weren’t on syllabus was always fun and easy. And after school, yeah! It became even better. Thank God for audiobook. And books that we can get in softcopy. Though reading from a real hard copy is big time! Here are favorite books;
Bible
Yeah… It’s a book I read in my ‘mind sets’ that’s either sad or happy or just there… It gives me hope and courage to keep moving. And the fact that my name is in the Bible… Why not?
Leah’s eyes were gentle…
Genesis 29:17
Tough Times Never last but Tough People Do
The book gives you faith during hard times, and makes you stop worrying about your problems because they never leave us the way they found us. They make us stronger and enable us to realize our faults. It’s a good book to read not only in your tough times and motivating too. One who has a problem of any kind should read it.. It changes your perception towards the problem and helps you find the possibilities of getting free. There’s a way it renews your strength.
Here are some of things I carry with me;
- There will never be another now – I will make the most of today.
- There will never be another me – I will make the most of myself.
Mum gave it to me in second year at campus when campus life was getting real. Up to now I don’t know why and how she did, but she did. It was not really a tough time but it needed a tough girl. It gave me back all the energy I had somehow lost. And this particular book reminds me how to always charge myself through my thoughts, my emotions and my spirit. There is a slight difference between possibility thinking and positive thinking. It helped me, it can help you too.
Rich Dad Poor Dad
This book isn’t just about money, it as a lot do how we brought up in our families and schools and of course our friends. It’s Robert’s story how he grew up with two dads, his real father and a father of his best friend ‘rich dad’. I like this book because it shows how it’s a myth that you need to earn a high income to get rich. He tries to explain the difference between working for money and having your money work for you. It helped me want to educated in money, life my own vision and life in this world. This book taught me the difference between an asset and a liability. Since I read this I try and try so hard to own things that put money in your pocket. We all know how it’s hard. But we have to try.
Animal Farm
I happened to first read this in Primary 6 and again in Primary seven vacation, I read it 3times. That is how it is simple to read and understand from a child or an adult.
It is such a good book that talks about democracy. The writer wrote about animals whose characteristics are almost identical to humans. The Pigs, dogs and horses. It is very good book. If you are interested in democracy, it is your book. The writer wrote about animals whose characteristics are almost identical to humans. For example, directors were pigs, dogs are their assistants and horses are only very good workers. Which makes me wonder about how our political leaders should look like? . Would highly recommend.
Odokonyero
This Africa, Uganda. It’s book with different stories from young people with a desire of writing and telling their stories. Odokonyero is an anthology of short stories from emerging voices in the post-NRA liberation struggle. It is a possible mirror through which to view the Ugandan postcolonial state. Issues of class, gender, culture, politics, religion, and education merge to offer a cocktail of emotions. You will laugh, smile, cringe, cry, and dream through this book. The book is food – the kind in which you are both the reader and the character(s) on the menu. My favourite stories were Let me write to Dad by Katusiime Jacob and Don’t Dare God by Gladys Oromo. I highly recommend this, see how Ugandans write so write with interesting stories. Read how young Ugandans are writing.
TUHAME ❤️
