Dear Young Leah

Today let me write a letter to my younger self. It’s such a great experience. So to #Lockdownblog challenge thank you for this opportunity. Day 15, Here we go;-

Dear young Leah,

I write from Kampala, yeah! We spent our Easter weekend in the city. And it’s not that we wanted! It’s about the #lockdown and it seems that Covid-19 has made the whole world shut down! Yeah! As scary as it sounds. It’s the truth. We are on a total shutdown.

The more I watch news about Covid-19 the more scared I get. Maybe the more we are exposed to this world, the more we realise how little we know and understand. So please be unique and creat your journey. Because you deserve it. I well know you won’t actually listen to a lot of advice. But if you can try to listen more. I didn’t do that! Okay, I know you won’t take me serious. So let me just say these.

Take family seriously. I think I was caught off guard when i missed my Brother’s graduation party that I was going for a rotaract event in Mbale. Up to now I don’t know why that was so important to me and what I was thinking! I still wonder why someone didn’t stop me. However I have lived with it somehow. Don’t miss any event of your siblings! Ever! Make family as your priority, they are all you have got. Covid19 has taught whoever didn’t know this. So trust me. With the siblings love and company; Laura, Lucky and Stuart I know you will enjoy their love! They are the best! That I have no doubt about it!

Dearest, you will experience amazing things. You will be loved by Mum and siblings! And Mum will be your Best friend, you will want to be like her in every way possible. They will all be your mentors and heroes. Love them back. Please even in the deepest of the deepest they will always have your back. Respect their love. Don’t take them for granted! To me they have been the humblest people I have ever met!

Growing up is an experience that is full of mixed emotions. Baby, they will get you confused and you will get pain and sorrow that you will feel betrayed and sure your heart will be broken. However the good news is, you will have unconditional love and support from family.

Please, pray! Pray for your life, future, family and friends. If I knew how prayer can move mountains! Oh God! I would be far! But am still learning. Learn when you are still young. I know Mum will teach you how to pray and how to be kind and gentle. Please pay attention this time!

I want you to laugh and smile more often! Yeah, do this and your soul will be pure. Sure, it’s contagious and people like to be around Happy people. I have mastered this the best. When you do these, I will be proud of you.

Baby, you will fall in love, and when that time comes. Learn to love yourself throughout. Don’t put yourself on pressure! You will be betrayed but keep loving again. You will reach 2020 and your eyes will open so wide that you will want to thank me! No need, I will be right here with you darling. The world doesn’t revolve around you. You live in it. Am happy right here. Have some fun while in it. At least I know you will see 2020😉.

There is a magnificent life ahead of us! This road won’t be easy, I can’t lie to you darling however it’s an incredible journey too! I know Mum will tell you this but for clarity I have to mention it again, “when life gets tough you have a chance to shine brighter or give up. And I didn’t give birth to a quitter! So be tough you can conquer!” Boom! Just like that… Bye dear.
