Today was one of those days that reminded me exactly why we started Gifts and Petals.
If you didn’t know, my brother and I run Gifts and Petals together our gift shop dream turned reality. We are business partners (and siblings first), pouring our hearts into creating gift hampers and floral arrangements for all kinds of occasions. But today was different. Today, I felt a deep sense of fulfillment that I think I hadn’t quite experienced since we began this journey and yes, there were moments but this I felt it to the bones.
We delivered flowers to someone in the hospital. Not just one bouquet but three all for the same person! Ask me how? Well, sometimes when I’m not too tied up, I love doing the deliveries myself. Today was one of those days. I took the first hand bouquet over, only to get two more orders for the same patient. So off I went again, carrying two vibrant bouquets.
I absolutely love people who go out of their way to celebrate and care for their loved ones. Because truth be told, I’m both gifted and a giftie (if that’s even a thing) I simply love gifts and gifting. The excitement from those who ordered the flowers was priceless. When I walked into that hospital room, everyone went:
“Wow! These are beautiful! You guys are showing off today!”
And yes, at Gifts and Petals, we were. Because when someone has supported your business from the start, you just want to give your very best even if the profits are modest.
What made this delivery even more special was knowing how much the patient and her entire family love flowers. That’s why we went all out big, colorful, joyful blooms that lit up not just her room but even the hospital walkway. (Is it still called that?) As I carried them through the halls, people turned, smiled and admired.
This is the power of flowers. Of thoughtful gifts. Of simply showing up for the people we love in all ways.
From Gifts and Petals, we wish her a quick recovery. May the Lord heal her completely. 🌹
TUHAME ❤️
