We are always on the mercy of a stranger. Everytime you leave your house you are nolonger in control, your family isn’t.
If you get an accident on the road, in Uganda the best place they can take you is a government health centre or call the police and of course with their vehicle they put you under the chairs ( you know where they usually put the criminals?) That’s where you will go. They will simply take you to a health center okay say you are around Kampala, your unconscious self will be in Mulago. A place that is full. A place that has no medicine or gloves of course with hungry doctors that are so tired because of overworking with little pay… They don’t know you! They don’t think that you are somebody, you are just a person who was brought by either the police or a good Samaritan and you might be poor, with no relatives or you might be rich with a famous family background. I remember I lost my cousin because there were no Doctors at that hospital when he arrived! (dropped by the police car). He was alive when he was took to the hospital the watch man said. He got an accident on Jinja road at around 10pm and died in the morning! With no treatment! It’s sad! (May his dear soul rest in peace). But will government hear this? Maybe their sons and daughters are taken to USA and China after accidents! What about if they get a bad stranger and it’s not in news… They never react!
Rich or poor! Anti government or so Government! When you are unconscious all that doesn’t matter! Sometimes you don’t even have your ID on you! When you arrive at the hospital they give you a name even if it’s for your enemy! So relax! Speak! Be the good Samaritan. Tell the government to do something about the health emergency care.
When a stranger finds you on the road unconscious he or she might help to just call your relatives and drop you off at the nearest hospital. I also remember my other cousin was dropped at some Hospital by a good stranger who she had just met at Church. She called everyone in her phone book and I got the news so my siblings and I rushed to the hospital! Her labour pains came earlier! Reaching the hospital the nurses were already threatening that if she is for C-section she needs to pay first before taken to threater! Which I totally understand… Ugandans are also not easy these days! She never carried money. She thought she was going to give birth in 3days! She wasn’t ready! Luckily enough she delivered normally. We thank God! I spent a night at the hospital with her. (On the floor ofcourse). It was such an experience that I feel for everyone who takes care of any sick person in a government hospital!!! And in the morning we were discharged because someone had to occupy the bed!
A friend said that money runs everything! Trust me! When you are unconscious… These nurses don’t know that you have relatives that can even pay their 20year salary! So keep calm! Be a good stranger! Have mercy on that stranger. Be the good Samaritan.
You see the cleaners, nurses and doctors they have debts to pay. There are hospital policies they need to follow! Some people start hospitals as a way to make money! Yes it’s a business of saving people.😉 The study loans they took to study medicine. The relatives they also have in hospital that need to clear bills so they can go home. Yeah! With all this you can’t expect someone to just treat you with no gloves and no medicine. They aren’t miracle performers. They can’t risk their lives for you! As we all know whoever studies Medicine related course is a sharp, clever human. These humans topped their class! They were the best performers! But how does the government of Uganda treat them?
What do you think such a doctor can do? Will he or she treat you well. Let’s not doubt their ability to treat when they are hungry, maybe all they need is their head not food in their stomach. 😄🙈. Okay; This has reminded me of my high school friend who said that when she doesn’t eat at night she gets night meres and in the morning prep she sees demons instead of fellow students!!!!!!! She is now a nurse. Imagine on her call she didn’t eat and she mistakes you to be a demon? Would she treat a demon? Or she would say, not today demon! She will run for her life and you will be dead.😢
Your life depends on these public hospitals! Just speak… Maybe your voice can make a change! I have just spoken… Be the good Samaritan. Have mercy. Stop the corruption! Maybe your relatives or your friend might live because someone was kind and they took them to the hospital in time. And maybe a good doctor will be on call that day to attend to the patient.
Uganda can be better with You and I.
For God and My Country.
