My Detoxing Journey

I have always wanted to post this but here I’m…. So I started my detoxing journey last year in June. Day 16, Experience my detoxing journey. Detox diets are mainly short term dietary interventions designed to eliminate toxins from your body. This includes fasting,strict diet of vegetables, fruits, water, herbs, and fruits juices. Water is so affordable, so I tend to take a lot of it.

Back in 2019 June, on a Saturday evening as I was leaving work I saw a woman selling spinach and I remembered it’s a vegetable that can be used for Detoxing! I bought it. And there I started my detoxing journey with everything in the kitchen that my Nutritionist said would help in detoxing. I saw her in February 2019 and I remembered in June!

But hey! You are never too late to start. 😉 With her guidelines on what to mix and what to eat so that I can boost my immunity and also detox. She told me I needed to make food my medicine. With the way I was in and out of a hospital. I was like yeah! I need to try this and see if it works! Trust me it did! It was and still is such a great adventure. Let the pictures speak for themselves… 😇

It’s Sunday morning, 6am and I was already up to make my detoxing smoothie. This was my first attempt. Ingredients; Ginger, lemon, cucumber, carrot, beetroot, turmeric, apple and spinach.

I chopped them in pieces so that the blending can be a little easier.

And then the finale, the glass on the right is sieved while the one on the left isn’t. As Mum says, “you need to give people options so that they see the difference.” I loved the one on the left. With everything in it. Oh it was heavenly!

Yeah, some of the few pictures. I know somehow they aren’t few😂 however, since June 2019 those are few. But I normally want to mix different fruits to know how different they can taste. It’s always amazing!With all the hope that I will continue making a detoxing smoothie or salad and also be able to cook any vegetables.

The most exciting thing about this journey is that my immunity is now stable and that everytime I post my smoothie or salad someone asks me how to mix. Or where to buy what. Am actually now self appointed Nutritionist for my family and friends. If you are on Twitter then you know Dr. Kasenene, I get some of the tips from his posts. You feel me. 🤸 But am just a Social Sciencist who simply wants to live a healthier life.
