Day 12! How to overcome boredom during Lockdown. Talking of what to do when you are home to avoid boredom.

Catching up

Lockdown can have a negative impact on your mental health that will lead to loneliness. So use this time to text or call your friends and family. Thanks to technology (to the mukiga who invented it😉) advancements that you don’t have to be with your loved ones.

Dail that number 😉

Maybe you think you are keeping in touch with that Rose, Immac and Maria from primary or Anita and Donna from high school! To be honest that Facebook or status comments don’t actually matter! Get your phone and call that friend or family member! And of course those living alone, you need to know your neighbors this time. Because if anything happens to you. They are your friends now.

During this time I actually talk to Mum Everytime. And it feels good. I ask her if she has taken lemon tea, if she has exercised. If she is good. And at the every call she pauses and she says, “how are you?” It feels good. And I also ask her the same thing!

Do Exercises

We aren’t allowed to jog in large numbers here in Uganda. Here is how you can still stay in shape. Yoga is a great exercise and also good for mental health. Since gyms are banned for now but there are plenty videos that can help you practice yoga in the comfort of your home. Check them on YouTube. With this you can follow with your kids or housemates just in your living room or compound. Cosmic kids has great yoga stories for kids that also have fairly tales and with this, you will be keeping you fit too.

Dance and Sing

Does it even matter if you are in club or not? Dance it all away! Put on some of your favorite music and move that body! Shake it all away! I hear dancing releases endorphins that makes one to feel happy. You need to feel happy! If you are living with a family or kids dance with them. Teach each other how to dance. These are memories that stay in your kid’s mind. It’s a great way to bond and connect with family. I heard that the songs someone listens or dances to tell a lot about them. Have a karaoke night! Yeah! We normally have these at home. It’s always fun. You should try it.

Home Spa

Doesn’t it sound romantic! With your local spa closed it doesn’t mean you don’t have to pamper yourself. Take that long bubble bath that you normally see in movies.😂 Yeah! Some of these things aren’t for us! 😂 Sip that wine as you either read the novel.😂Give yourself a facial, yeah! Don’t wake me up please! Have a time to relax and fix on yourself and your beauty. Of course for someone who likes to post and post… You can take photos and show off on social media! But is it showing off? People are just posting so that they remember…lol (eyes rolled)

Gardening

How about you plant something you have always brought! It’s now the perfect time to do some planting flowers, herbs and vegetables. As you see them growing you will remember that life in #lockdown was worthwhile. Actually some herbs make your home smell great as flowers make your home welcoming and beautiful. You need this for your home.

Update your CV

We don’t know if this Corona Virus will have an impact on our jobs. Why not use this free time to update your CV. It’s sensible and also practical to invest in your future wisely.

Watch and watch

Obviously! Watch TV! Watch series! Watch movies! Take this opportunity to watch all those movies you wanted to watch. With the TV series you will be left with no choice! With all TVs talking about covid19 maybe watch less of that and more of enjoyable series and movies. Get a snack for this so that you don’t have to be hungry as you watch!

Try a New Recipe

If you are like me who likes to cook then Google is your friend. Actually Facebook too is of good help. No need to struggle in finding the ingredients you would simply buy from a nearby supermarket. This #Lockdown experiment with whatever you have at home and try something new. Maybe it’s time to invent your own recipe!

Looking it at again… I need to try this soonest!

Sleep and Sleep

Hahaha…. Please sleep! Okay, I had to reserve this for the last! But sure you need to sleep all that sleep you haven’t slept in along time! You need to rest as much as possible! I repeat! You need to rest as much as possible! But you need to wake up and eat something. 😂

I pray we get through this alive and we share how we did our best. Remember the most important thing; PRAY!
