When Plans Are Cancelled Last Minute.

There is a quiet kind of disappointment that settles in when plans are cancelled last minute especially when you had moved things around, cancelled on someone else or carved out precious time just to be present.

It recently happened to me. I had made plans with a friend but chose to let go of that time because something else came up that I thought needed my attention more. I honoured that commitment to a group of people. Only for it to be cancelled without a word. No explanation. No apology.

The worst part? I had already cancelled on someone who truly valued that time. I had made a sacrifice, thinking I was doing the right thing. And in the end, I was left hanging.
So I said something gently. I posted on my status;
“If you happen to have a free evening dear friend, I’m here. We can still catch up.”
Because sometimes, the people we cancel on had other choices too but they chose us.

Here’s the beautiful part! My friend did come through. We laughed, really laughed hard about how fate clearly wanted us to meet that evening after all. No hard feelings just warmth and joy. The kind that reminds you some friendships are built on grace.

This isn’t about holding grudges. Life happens. Plans shift. Emergencies come up but what costs nothing and means everything is communication. A quick message. A heads-up. A “sorry for the inconvenience.” That’s what shows someone that their time is seen and respected.
Every time someone chooses to be with you, they are saying “You matter.” So let’s respect that.

TUHAME ❤️
